Review of Peachi Baby nappy

It’s always wonderful to see new nappies launch! Not only does it bring a whole load of new prints to try, but often these small companies have something really wonderful and unique to offer. So when I heard about Peachi Baby, I was so excited to try one of their nappies.

I’ve been using this nappy on both my 30 month old boy and 2 month old girl for several months now. If my opinions change over time I’ll update this post to let you know. On to the review!

The facts

The Peachi Baby nappy is a pocket nappy with an additional snap-in booster. Like most modern nappies, it has a PUL waterproof outer, and this is lined with polyester suede-cloth. The main insert (known as the ‘anchor insert’ and booster are made of 70% bamboo viscose and 30% cotton. The anchor insert is double length so needs to be folded in two before you put it into the pocket.

The nappies retail for £20 each, but you can get £10 off a £50 order with this link. There are also discounts available on bundles of 6, 12 or 18 nappies.

You can also buy additional inserts if needed.

These birth-to-potty nappies have two rows of rise snaps and are designed to fit from 8lbs to around 35lbs (4kg - 16kg). The fit is different to many other cloth nappies - the nappy sits lower and more like a pair of underwear. Peachi Baby recommend washing the nappy at 40°C.

What I love

Absorbency: This is a super absorbent nappy! The anchor insert alone gave us enough absorbency for 3 hours wear, so adding the snap-in booster makes this nappy suitable for the heaviest wetters. Given the size of the nappy and it’s trim fit, it’s impressive that they’ve managed to pack in such a huge amount of absorbing power.

The anchor insert: The anchor insert is cleverly designed to maximise absorbency. The fact that it’s double length means you’re not having to stuff with two individual inserts, though does mean that if you have a lighter wetter, you can’t remove a second insert. The shape is really well designed - being wider at one end ‘anchors’ the insert into the pocket, as well as adding extra area for absorption without making the nappy bulky. The double length also gives you the option of using it in a few different ways - you can double up the middle section for girls or at the front for boys. Note that the insert will shrink slightly when you wash it. You can gently stretch and reshape it when wet if needed.

Fit: The fit on these nappies is quite different to most, sitting lower and trimmer, almost like a pair of underwear. This makes them very neat and discreet, and makes them easier to fit under some clothing options. However, Peachi Baby describe them as ‘slim fit’ and I don’t think that’s strictly true - they are still quite bulky on the bum itself. Personally that’s something I quite like as a fat bottom is cute on a little person! But if you want a nappy that’s very slim, this may not be for you.

Sizing: This is the first true birth-to-potty nappy I’ve ever used. To give you some context, I have a potty-trained 30 month old who often needs a nappy at nap time and bed time, and a tiny 2 month old. They’re at opposite ends of Peachi Baby’s weight range of 8-35lbs, so I’ve really been able to test whether it holds up. And it does! This was the first BTP nappy that my littlest fit into, around 8lbs. Other nappies which claim to fit from this weight, still don’t. Partly that is a lesson that weight ranges are just a guide, but I do love that the shape of the Peachi Baby nappy means that you can use it on tiny ones and big ones!

Great value: Whilst this isn’t cheap for a pocket nappy, it is great value for money considering the fact that you get a double length insert and a snap-in booster. What’s more, these are even more affordable if you take into account the fact that bundle offers are available if you’re buying a few nappies at once. This is a touch that some nappy brands don’t offer, and makes a lot of sense when you’re likely to be investing in a stash.

Prints: Peachi Baby have a beautiful range of prints which are all designed by women. Each print is limited edition, so worth getting while you can! I love that they choose to support women in this aspect of their design, and the result is really beautiful.

What I didn’t love

Drying time: It’s usually the case that if a nappy is very absorbent, it will be slower to dry (with a few exceptions!) This holds true for the Peachi Baby nappy too. The anchor insert takes a good 18 hours to dry indoors, sometimes longer, putting it on a par with some of my all-in-one nappies. However, unlike most all-in-ones, the insert and booster can be tumble dried, which means you shouldn’t have a problem if you’re happy to use your dryer.

Difficult to fit at first: Because the fit of these nappies is different to others, they can be difficult to fit at first. We had a couple of leaks and one fairly catastrophic poo-splosion, which were mostly down to the fact that I had accidentally fitted the nappy too low at the back. I’d recommend looking at Peachi Baby’s fit guide so that you’re fitting correctly from the start. Once I had the fit right, I had no issues!

In summary

This is a really beautiful nappy that packs a punch on absorbency, and is lovely to use. If you’re looking for a nappy that is truly birth-to-potty, this is an excellent choice! Just make sure you’ve got a tumble drier or enough in your stash to be able to work with the drying time, and check the fit guide so you’re fitting it right from the start.

If you’d like to try these nappies, you can order through this link and get £10 off when you spend over £50.
